How we work

Find the fault, explain it, quote it

We fix ranges at homes around Charlotte, from Mooresville and Concord down to Waxhaw, Fort Mill and Rock Hill. The technician checks the range in place, shows you the failed part and names a price. Parts are looked up by model number; anything not made by the original brand is labeled as such before you agree.

Gas or electric

Say which one when you book; the parts differ.

Constant clicking

A wet burner or worn switch can keep igniters sparking.

Storm damage

Electronic controls can be hurt by power surges.

Not worth fixing?

If the numbers don't add up, we say so.

FAQ

Range repair: common questions

The questions below cover range repair from booking through to the quote. Anything they miss can go in the form's notes box.

Ready to get it looked at?

Book online and a technician visits your home anywhere in our service area to check your range; the repair begins only once you approve the quote.

Only after the diagnosis. The technician checks the surface burners, the oven ignition and the temperature sensor, tells you which one failed and what the range repair costs, and nothing starts until you approve.

For ranges: Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE Appliances, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and Frigidaire, plus the other 23 makers listed on this page.

When the fix would cost too much for how old and worn the range is. You'll hear our view after the diagnosis, and the decision stays with you.

Go to the range's manufacturer while its coverage lasts; that repair should cost you nothing through them. We're independent of every brand, so covered work isn't ours to take.

Usually on the rating plate below the drawer at the bottom. Send it with the brand and a sentence on what the range is doing. Stop using the faulty burner or oven until it's checked, and never bypass a safety device.

Range repair, in more detail

Range repair in homes across Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, for 31 brands. A range is two appliances in one body, burners on top and an oven below, and gas, electric and dual-fuel versions each use different parts. Each half gets diagnosed on its own.

Our order of checks on a range is cooktop and oven as two separate jobs: they live in one body and share controls, and not much more. That sequence finds the actual fault without charging you for parts that weren't broken.

Before you order range parts

With ranges, a common misreading is an oven temperature complaint blamed on the thermostat when a worn door gasket or weak hinges are letting the heat out. Misjudge it and you buy the wrong part, which on a range is often the costliest one inside.

Climate, homes and your range

Locally, the factor that matters is professional-style and dual-fuel ranges in larger custom kitchens, which need both a gas supply and 240-volt power and are built to be rebuilt, alongside plain freestanding ranges in older neighborhoods with original gas lines.

Charlotte kitchens use both gas, supplied by Piedmont Natural Gas, and electric, and the same range model can come in either version with different parts. In older close-in neighborhoods the gas line or circuit may be older than the range, so the supply gets checked as well.

Quick range checks

Separate the problem first: does the cooktop work, does the oven work, or neither? That one answer tells the technician which half to start on. Smell gas? Get out of the house, then phone your gas utility or 911.

Which range brands share parts

We list 31 brands for range repair; you'll find them all linked on this page. Professional-style ranges from Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Bertazzoni and Thor each have their own burner and oven designs, while mainstream ranges share parts within their families.

Kenmore and other store brands were built by several manufacturers, so the model number, not the badge, tells us which parts fit.

The visit, step by step

Your range gets diagnosed at home; then you hear the cause and the price, and the decision is yours.

We order range parts by model number, use the manufacturer's own where we can, and tell you before installing an equivalent. A range still under the maker's warranty should go to the maker first, since we're an independent service.
