About TrueFix Charlotte
We repair household appliances in people's homes across Charlotte and the towns around it in North and South Carolina. This page explains how we go about it, because the way a repair is handled matters as much as the repair itself.
What we do, and how
Our work is in-home appliance repair, covering the kitchen (fridge, freezer, range, oven, cooktop, dishwasher, microwave), the laundry room, wine coolers and ice makers. We come to the appliance. There's no storefront to visit and nothing to haul across town.
Every visit starts the same way. The technician looks at the machine in place, runs the checks that fit the symptom and narrows it down to the part or condition behind it. Then you get the explanation in ordinary language, followed by a price for the repair.
What happens next is up to you. Approve the price and the repair goes ahead. Decline it and that's the end of it. And if the honest answer is that the appliance isn't worth repairing, you'll hear that before the quote, not after.
Homes around Charlotte give appliances their own set of conditions. Long humid summers, garages that bake in July and freeze in January, laundry rooms on the second floor, and kitchens in older houses that were never laid out for today's equipment all affect how a fault shows up and what the fix involves. We take the setting into account along with the machine.
What we won't do
Clear limits are easier to trust than broad promises. These are ours.
- Quote a repair over the phone before anyone has looked at the appliance
- Begin any repair you haven't approved
- Present ourselves as a brand's authorized service center
- Push a repair on a machine that isn't worth fixing
- Fit a part without telling you whether it's a manufacturer or equivalent part
How we work
Six habits that shape every visit, whatever the appliance and wherever it's installed.
Diagnosis is the job
Most of the skill in appliance repair is working out what failed and why. A part swapped on a guess can leave the real fault in place, so the technician tests before deciding anything.
You see the price before you agree
When the cause is pinned down, a price for fixing it follows. Accepting it or walking away is your call, and the tools stay in the bag until you agree.
Plain explanations
You should come away knowing what broke, what the repair involves and why it's needed. If something isn't clear, ask; there's no such thing as a silly question about your own appliance.
Honest about repair or replace
Sometimes the sensible advice is to put the money toward a new machine. When that's true of yours, you'll hear it from us before you spend anything on a repair.
Parts matched to your model
We order by the model number on the appliance. Manufacturer parts are used where they're available, and an equivalent part is always described as an equivalent.
Independent
We don't represent any manufacturer and aren't an authorized service center for one. If your appliance is still under its maker's warranty, contact the manufacturer first.
Getting in touch
Call us or use the booking form on the homepage. Tell us the brand, the model number if you can find it, and what the appliance is doing or not doing. A photo of the model sticker is just as useful as typing it out.
If something is leaking, unplug the appliance and shut off its water valve while you wait. Any smell of gas means getting out of the house first, then phoning your gas utility or 911 once you're outdoors.
