Repair work across the county

Stanly County was formed in 1841 from the part of Montgomery County west of the Pee Dee River. Albemarle is the county seat. The eastern side of the county holds Badin Lake, Lake Tillery, Morrow Mountain State Park and part of the Uwharrie National Forest; the western side, closest to Charlotte, is farm country and small towns.

Our Stanly coverage is that western side: ZIPs 28097, 28163 and 28129, which hold Locust, Stanfield, Oakboro and Red Cross and the countryside around them. Part of 28097 lies in Cabarrus County, and it is covered too. Albemarle, Norwood, Badin and the rest of the county are outside our area.

When we come out, the technician diagnoses the appliance in your home, explains what failed and gives you a price. Work starts only after you approve it, and if fixing it doesn't make sense, we'll tell you.

Locust, Stanfield and Oakboro

Locust is a small city at the crossing of NC 24/27 and NC 200, and it has grown with commuters as Charlotte's suburbs have moved east. Stanfield borders it to the south. Oakboro and Red Cross lie to the southeast, in ZIP 28129.

Housing across the three ZIPs is mostly single-family homes on large lots, with older farmhouses, newer subdivisions around Locust, and a large share of manufactured homes. Apartments are scarce.

Electric, propane and a little piped gas

Union Power supplies electricity across much of western Stanly County. Very few homes here heat with utility gas, and many gas ranges and dryers run on propane from a tank on the property, though Piedmont Natural Gas does have lines in parts of the county, including around Oakboro.

Propane and natural gas appliances use different burner orifices, so tell us the fuel when you book. If you smell gas, leave the house, then call your gas supplier or 911 from outside.

Storms, outages and the Rocky River

The Rocky River crosses Stanly County on its way to the Pee Dee. In January 2024, its floodwater damaged a Union Power transmission structure and cut power to thousands of homes around Oakboro, Locust, Stanfield and parts of Cabarrus County.

Food safety guidance after a blackout: about 4 hours for an unopened refrigerator, about 48 for a full freezer. If a refrigerator, freezer or microwave doesn't come back properly when the power returns, a surge may have damaged its controls, which is a repair the technician can test for.

FAQ

Questions about appliance repair in Stanly County

The questions below cover appliance repair in Stanly County from booking through to the quote. Anything they miss can go in the form's notes box.

Ready to get it looked at?

The appliance is checked where it stands, at your home anywhere in Stanly County, and the price comes before any work.

The western side: ZIPs 28097 (Locust), 28163 (Stanfield) and 28129 (Oakboro and Red Cross), including unincorporated land and the part of 28097 in Cabarrus County. Albemarle, Norwood, Badin, New London and Richfield use other ZIPs and are outside our area.

Yes. Propane appliances are common here, and the technician works on them the same way as natural gas models, with the right parts for the fuel. Tell us the fuel when you book, and never adjust a gas valve or regulator yourself.

Yes. The town of Red Cross lies within ZIP 28129, which we cover in full alongside Oakboro and the countryside around both. Any address with that ZIP is in our area.

Often. Outages and surges commonly damage start components and controls, which are replaceable. A failed compressor on an older freezer is a different story. The technician tests it and tells you plainly whether the repair is worth the cost before anything is done.

Tell us what stopped working

Use the form to describe the symptom. Our technician sorts out the cause on site and names a repair price, which you can accept or turn down.
