Text Message (SMS) Terms

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The short version

  • Texts are about your repair request and appointment only. We don’t send sales texts.
  • Message frequency varies.
  • Msg & data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help.
  • Wireless carriers bear no liability for texts that arrive late or not at all.
  • You can hire us without agreeing to texts; consent is not a condition of purchase.

Who sends the texts

The program is run by TrueFix Charlotte, an appliance repair service in the Charlotte region of North Carolina and South Carolina. We call it our customer-care text program.

What we send

Messages relate to a repair you have asked us about, for example:

  • confirming that we received your request and the appointment we set;
  • reminders before the visit, and notice of any change to it;
  • a heads-up when the technician is dispatched, with an estimated arrival;
  • updates on parts and follow-up visits;
  • answers to questions you text us.

We don’t use this program for advertising, coupons or promotions. If that ever changes, we will ask for separate permission first, and saying no will not affect your appointment texts.

How you join

You opt in by ticking the consent box on our text sign-up form or on the repair request form, after giving us a mobile number. The boxes are never ticked in advance, and we keep a record of when you ticked one. By opting in you confirm that you are 18 or older and that you own the number or are allowed by its owner to sign it up.

How many texts and what they cost

Message frequency varies with the job. A single visit might bring a confirmation and a reminder; a repair that needs a part ordered will mean a few more. We don’t charge for texts, but your carrier’s message and data rates may apply, so check your plan if you aren’t sure.

Stopping texts

Reply STOP to any of our messages. We also treat QUIT, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE and OPT OUT the same way, and we honor a clear request to stop made in other words or through our other contact options. You will get one text confirming you’ve been removed, and after that no more messages from this program. We process opt-outs promptly and within the time federal rules allow.

Stopping texts does not cancel your appointment. If you still want the visit, we will reach you by phone or email instead. To start receiving texts again, sign up once more on the sign-up page.

Getting help

Reply HELP to any message for information about the program and how to reach us. Our contact details are listed below too.

Carriers and delivery

Texts are sent through major U.S. wireless carriers, but delivery depends on your carrier and phone, so a message can occasionally arrive late or not at all, and carriers are not liable when that happens. If you change or give up your number, please tell us or reply STOP from it first so texts don’t reach the next person to hold it.

Your number and privacy

We use your mobile number to run this program and to handle your repair. We do not sell it, and we do not share mobile numbers, text-message opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. The only outside companies that handle the number are the providers that deliver the messages and keep our appointment records for us. More detail is in our privacy policy.

The rules we follow

This program is built around the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (47 U.S.C. § 227) and the Federal Communications Commission’s rules on consent and opt-outs, along with carrier and industry messaging guidelines. North Carolina’s telephone solicitation law (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-100 and following sections) covers calls and texts made to sell goods or services; our customer-care texts are not sales messages, and we would follow that law, the National Do Not Call Registry and the federal rules before sending any marketing text.

Changes to these terms

If we change how the program works, we will update this page and its date. For a significant change, such as adding a new type of message, we will let current subscribers know by text first.
