Repair notes for Mooresville

Mooresville is a town in southwestern Iredell County, and its most populous municipality. It grew from Moore's Siding, the stop that formed after the railroad crossed John Franklin Moore's land in 1856, and incorporated in 1873. The first of several textile mills opened in 1900, and the downtown commercial area is now the Mooresville Historic District.

Today it is better known for racing and the lake. Mooresville calls itself Race City USA and is home to many NASCAR race shops, and Lowe's has its corporate headquarters on the west side of town. Lake Norman, the reservoir behind Duke's Cowans Ford Dam, lies a few miles west of downtown, and the town draws its drinking water from it.

Housing in Mooresville

ZIP 28115 is the town center and the land east of it, with older houses around downtown and subdivisions spreading east, half of them built since about 2000. A small part of the ZIP reaches into Rowan County.

ZIP 28117 runs west toward the lake, including the Brawley School Road area, and more than half its residents live outside the town limits in unincorporated Iredell. It is newer on average than 28115, with about six in ten homes dating from 2000 or later: lakefront houses, subdivisions and townhomes, plus a large share of apartments and other multi-unit buildings.

How the housing shapes repairs

Lake houses tend to carry extra appliances: a beverage center or ice machine in an outdoor kitchen, a second refrigerator on a lower level, a laundry pair that runs hard all summer. Some sit empty for stretches. A house that is closed up in winter needs its water lines protected, and anything left running alone needs a way to report a failure.

Duke Energy supplies electricity to much of Mooresville, and EnergyUnited, a member-owned electric utility headquartered in Statesville, serves parts of Iredell County. Gas and electric appliances are both common in 28115 and 28117, so the technician confirms the fuel before working on a range, cooktop or dryer.

Coverage in Mooresville

We serve ZIPs 28115 and 28117: the Town of Mooresville, the unincorporated lake communities west of it, and the part of 28115 that crosses into Rowan County. Any address in either ZIP is in our area, whether it is downtown, on the Brawley School Road side or on the water.

Each ZIP has its own page, and each appliance has its own Mooresville page covering how that appliance behaves in local homes. Brand pages for the area are linked below as well.

Freezes, ice storms and power outages in Mooresville

Most winter days in Mooresville need little more than a jacket, but a few nights each year drop well below freezing, and some winters bring freezing rain. Those are the nights that split a washer hose in an unheated laundry room or freeze the copper line behind a refrigerator that runs along an outside wall. Garage refrigerators and freezers can also stop cooling properly when the space around them gets too cold for their thermostat to work as designed.

If an outage is likely, freeze jugs of water ahead of time and stock the freezer tight; a full one holds its cold longest. After the power returns, give a refrigerator several hours to recover before judging it, and use a thermometer rather than the dial. Food safety follows USDA guidance, and when it is unclear how warm something got, throw it out.

Independent repair and manufacturer coverage

Being independent means we are not tied to any one maker, so the same technician can look at a refrigerator from one brand and a range from another in a single visit to Mooresville. It also means a recently bought appliance still covered by its manufacturer should go back to the maker before you book with us.

Check the purchase paperwork or the maker's website if you are not sure where your appliance stands. If it is outside coverage, book a diagnosis and have the model number ready.

FAQ

Mooresville appliance repair questions

Before you book appliance repair in Mooresville, here's how it works in brief. Jot down the model number if the label is easy to reach.

Ready to get it looked at?

The appliance is checked where it stands, at your home in Mooresville, and the price comes before any work.

Yes. Outdoor refrigerators and undercounter ice machines are built for outdoor use but still need clean condensers and clear front grilles, and pollen and summer heat work against both. Tell us where each unit is and how to reach it. Each appliance gets its own diagnosis and its own quote.

Yes. When you book, name the person who will be there, or explain the access arrangements, and include the model number if you have it. The technician diagnoses the appliance and calls or texts you the quote, and no work starts until you approve it.

Every address in both ZIP codes listed on this page, including streets where a ZIP runs across a town or county line. Coverage goes by ZIP code, not by town limits. If you're unsure, enter your ZIP in the search box or tell us the address when you book.

Yes, an adult should be there to let the technician in, show where the appliance is, and approve the price after the diagnosis. No work starts without that approval. If a property manager or family member will be there instead, mention it when you book.
