You've typed in your address and want to know one thing: does this company actually come to my street? For us the answer follows the ZIP code. Our area spans eight counties in North and South Carolina, and Mecklenburg County, home to the City of Charlotte and six towns, sits at the center of it. This post explains what Mecklenburg coverage includes, what happens where a ZIP crosses the county line, and how the type of housing in each part of the county shapes the appliance problems people run into.
One city, six towns
Mecklenburg has seven municipalities. Charlotte is the county seat and by far the largest. To the north, around Lake Norman, are the towns of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson. To the south and southeast are Pineville, Matthews and Mint Hill. Each town has its own government and its own history; none of them is a Charlotte neighborhood.
The names people use most often inside Charlotte, such as Ballantyne, SouthPark, South End, NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Dilworth, Myers Park, University City and Steele Creek, are parts of the city rather than separate towns. There are also pockets of unincorporated county land, especially in the far west near Steele Creek and along the Catawba River. Those addresses are still in Mecklenburg, and still in our service area.
The areas we cover
We group the county into 15 service areas. Each has its own page with the ZIP codes it includes.
| Part of the county | Service areas |
|---|---|
| Center city | Uptown, South End and Dilworth, Myers Park and Elizabeth, NoDa and Plaza Midwood |
| South Charlotte | SouthPark and Cotswold, Ballantyne and South Charlotte, Steele Creek |
| West, north and east Charlotte | West Charlotte, Northwest Charlotte, East Charlotte, University City |
| Lake Norman towns | Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson |
| South and southeast towns | Pineville, Matthews and Mint Hill |

How housing changes the repair
The county's housing was built in waves, and an appliance problem often looks different depending on which wave your home belongs to.
Streetcar suburbs and mill villages
Dilworth and Elizabeth began as streetcar suburbs in the 1890s. Myers Park, Plaza Midwood and Wesley Heights followed in the 1910s, and the North Charlotte mill villages that became NoDa date from the early 1900s. Kitchens and laundry areas in these houses were usually added or reworked long after construction. Expect tight alcoves, a washer and dryer tucked into a closet or back porch, and remodeled kitchens with built-in or panel-ready appliances. For a repair, that can mean careful work to slide a unit out without scarring floors or cabinetry, and some homes have had their wiring and gas lines updated in stages.
Postwar ranches and split-levels
Much of east Charlotte, the Cotswold and Sherwood Forest area, and parts of west Charlotte filled in after World War II. These homes are often on one level, with the laundry in a utility room or attached carport area. Many have been remodeled at least once, so a 1960s house can hold anything from a basic top-load washer to a new induction range. Ranch layouts make appliances easier to reach, but a water line or dryer vent running through a crawl space or an outside wall needs attention in a hard freeze.
Two-story suburbs from the 1980s on
Ballantyne, Carmel, Highland Creek, Steele Creek, Huntersville and much of Matthews and Mint Hill are dominated by houses from the last four decades. Here the laundry room is frequently upstairs, near the bedrooms. A failed washer drain hose or inlet hose upstairs can soak the ceiling below, so a slow leak deserves quick attention. Many of these homes also have garage refrigerators or freezers, which face summer heat and winter cold that a kitchen never does. Steele Creek has the newest housing in the county, so original builder-grade appliances there are reaching their first major repairs.
Apartments and condos
Uptown is mostly mid-rise and high-rise living, and South End has filled with apartment buildings along the LYNX Blue Line since it opened in 2007. University City has a large rental market around UNC Charlotte. Stacked washer-dryers, compact dishwashers and over-the-range microwaves are typical. Service visits depend on building rules, so it helps to know your loading and elevator arrangements before you book. For rentals, check who arranges repairs under your lease.
Lake homes
Lake Norman borders Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville. Mountain Island Lake sits along Huntersville and northwest Charlotte, and Lake Wylie touches the far southwest of the county. Some lake homes are second homes that sit empty for stretches. Appliances left idle can develop dried seals, stuck valves or a freezer that quietly failed weeks ago, so a walk-through on arrival is worth doing.
Where a ZIP crosses the county line
ZIP codes don't follow county lines. For booking, that no longer matters: we cover every address in each ZIP we serve, whichever county it falls in.
- Davidson (28036). The town extends into Iredell County, and the ZIP also reaches into Cabarrus County, including part of Kannapolis. All of 28036 is covered, in all three counties.
- Mint Hill. Most of the town is in Mecklenburg, but a small portion extends into Union County. That portion is covered as well.
- Matthews. The town is in Mecklenburg and borders Union County, where Stallings sits. Stallings, Indian Trail and the rest of our Union County coverage are in our area too.
- Huntersville and University City. Slivers of 28078 and 28269 lie in Cabarrus County. Highland Creek, for example, is split between Charlotte and Concord, and we cover both sides.
- Mailing names inside Charlotte. Plenty of addresses labeled Matthews, Mint Hill or Pineville are actually within Charlotte city limits. That doesn't change anything for us.
If you aren't sure your ZIP is on our list, include your full street address when you book and we'll confirm.
Beyond Mecklenburg
Our area also takes in listed ZIP codes in seven neighboring counties. In North Carolina those are Cabarrus, with Concord, Harrisburg and Kannapolis; Union; Iredell, for Mooresville; Stanly; and Anson. In South Carolina they are York and Lancaster. Each county page lists its ZIP codes. Gaston, Lincoln, Catawba and Rowan counties are not in our area, apart from the Rowan County parts of the Kannapolis ZIPs, 28081 and 28083.
Booking from anywhere in the county
The process is the same everywhere we go. A technician comes to the home, diagnoses the appliance, explains what failed and quotes the repair, and nothing starts until you approve it. For a step-by-step look at the visit itself, see how in-home appliance repair works in Charlotte. Call or use the online form, and have the model number ready.
Frequently asked questions
I live in unincorporated Mecklenburg County. Do you come out?
Yes. Unincorporated addresses are still in Mecklenburg County and fall inside our service area, including the outer parts of Steele Creek and the land along the Catawba River.
Part of the Davidson ZIP is in Iredell County. Can you still come?
Yes. Coverage goes by ZIP code, so every address in 28036 is in our area, whether the county is Mecklenburg, Iredell or Cabarrus.
Do you serve Concord, Mooresville or Fort Mill?
Yes. Concord is part of our Cabarrus County area, Mooresville is in Iredell County, and Fort Mill is in York County, South Carolina. Each county page lists the ZIP codes we cover.
Is service different in the towns than in Charlotte?
The repair process is identical. What changes is the setting: a lakeside second home, an upstairs laundry room or an Uptown high-rise each bring their own access and scheduling details.
